Unexpected at THE CLOUDMONT
I finally made it on the snow this year and I couldn't have had better conditions. The conditions at the 'mont on Sunday were tremendous. Packed powder from top to bottom, and yes, they were open to the top. This was my first trip to the 'mont and didn't really know what to expect with the snow conditions, but it was awsome. They got six inches of fresh over night. I will post pics hopefully tomorrow, although I didn't take many.
For anyone that has never skied the 'mont, the lift is a pony lift, a glorified rope tow with handles. Seeing all the newbie's, and there were plenty, trying to use this thing was absolutly entertaining. I give all the credit to the lifty's at the 'mont, they work harder there than at any other resort. I saw them pick more people up off the snow so they could fall again trying to get on the lift. They showed great patience!!! So good for them for employing some really nice young people.
If you are ever in the area and get the chance, don't pass it up. You will see more Camo, bluejeans, and some, if they were wearing gloves, had on wool gloves. Great until they get wet, then you are wet and cold. Alot of beginners and with only one hill, everyone is there together and that just makes it more interesting.
So I give THE CLOUDMONT the respect they deserve, for being the only ski area in AL and the most southern and lowest in elevation for doing a great job and giving us poor *******s in Alabama a place to ski.

If the van is a rockin', don't come a knockin'.
Did I ever tell you about the time I invented snowboarding? Ya I don't want credit for it but they keep on giving it to me...
The 11/12 season finally got started.
